Forming a Partnership

The days have been full of so many good things that I forget to write them all down and come back to these pages. But it’s important that I share one of the most compelling things I’ve undertaken outside of my creativity and writing since the world changed for me.

Over a year ago I’d met the head of a non-profit in RI that supports those who are dealing with and surviving cancer. They engage with all the medical professionals, healthcare systems and cancer organizations in an effort to communicate and distribute information about screening, prevention and measures to help reduce cancers of all kinds. The Partnership to Reduce Cancer in RI has been around since 2006 and reached thousands of RI residents with their outreach and information.

My connection has been to share their news and link them as a resource in these pages, but now it’s also to help them with their communication and messaging to their membership and the public in general. As their Media and Communications Consultant, it’s my pleasure to help support their efforts and build the visibility and awareness of cancer prevention services into communities around the state.

This has been a perfect fit between my aspiration to help others and focus on the health and well being of those who are dealing with or could be taking steps to avoid cancer. It’s a natural mix of my marketing experience and education skills to help others and share what I know with a group that is working hard to make a difference. It feels purposeful and directed, intentional and necessary. So far we’ve gotten quite a lot of work set up and I look forward to supporting them as they reach new goals.

There is a satisfying blend when you can bring your talents and skill set, combine it with your life experience, and take what was an enormous challenge to your life and retool all of it into new energy. It’s my hope that I can offer a positive impact to the work the Partnership is doing and in turn help many others in my home state.

More to come, but this is an enormous upside of 2024 so far!
