Who am I and why this blog?

I’m a person probably just like you. I’ve had a long and varied professional career, traveled to many places in the world for work and fun, live in a fabulous part of the country with a terrific husband and home. I love my gardens, biking, sailing, community involvement, and have my family and friends close enough to see them as often as possible.

What may also be like you is that I am a cancer survivor. Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in 2020, I spent from May to November in and out of treatments at the hospital here in RI. I’ve come to learn more about myself and the medical community than I’d imagined, and struggled with a variety of things that are common to all of us that have experienced this or similar diagnosis.

All cancers are different, and none of them are great. But we all have a shared experience and understanding of what this means on a physical and emotional level, and how it changes the way you look at your life and the world.

I feel there must be others like me who are overwhelmed by the volume of resources and websites with diagnosis offerings and treatments. So I decided to talk about how I was able to manage to get through the treatments and start rebuilding my health In small and tangible ways.

If this helps you, please let me know. And if you have other suggestions, stories or resources to share, pass them along as we need to continue lifting up one another and getting everyone over that finish line. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. We can do this together!
